Brilliant underplay of the skill of the team

It reminds me of the somewhat complex procedures that your talented colleagues undergo in order to repair other people's meaningful treasures, all of which are done with love and passion. Although the book explains some basic tools required, highlighting specific repairs of sentimental value, most repairs undertaken require knowledge and skills most simply haven't got and are sometimes best left to the experts. The programme clearly shows the dedication, passion and determination the team have in achieving a pleasing finish whilst respecting the age or historic background of each item.

  • Most critical review

The Repair Shop book - basic/light weight content unlike the TV programme.

The book is nicely presented and arrived in good condition and on time. Unfortunately, I found the content very basic and I was expecting a bit more meat on the bones by way of content. I would not recommend the book, I felt a waste of money.

  • easy read to grip your interest.

gives an insight into what can be done to restore loved older items. it is only a brief description as every item will be slightly different, but gives at least a starting point to get you started.a brief but easy reading book to get your interest working.

  • Photo's would have been an improvement

I feel that it has been produced very cheaply. Content good, but it would have been much better if there had been photographic content

  • A brilliant read!

This is a not only an informative book but also had lots of tips on how to look after your favourite items which could be furniture, pictures, ornaments etc., It is written in a warm and slightly humourous way...enjoy!

  • Rubbish, Rubbish, Rubbish!!!

This is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever seen! Thrown together on the back of a great BBC programme. Jay Blade aught to be ashamed of putting his name to it! I would send it back but am not going to waste the postage on it. Not one picture of the craftsmen and women, very cheaply produced!

  • Disappointed

Very disappointed. Nothing like it reads on the write up. I was expecting a book full of tips and information on how to use some of the techniques they used on the series. Instead it tells you about the tools used by the craftsmen and what project they liked working in the show. Photos of the stars would have been a good idea to include in the book.

  • Saying it is a guide is misleading. It needs to have a lot more technical content to satisfy that

I thought it would be full of the ways things are done not memorable moments. It would have helped having more illustrations such as showing the silver hallmarks. Having just one example from each restorer is very poor.
