Great EQ filter but the feedback detector is not sensitive enough
I bought this hoping to solve the many problems with feedback through the PA my band has when playing in pubs. But the feedback detector is not sensitive enough. The feedback detector works, but you have to have the speakers up to a level where they are howling, which is intolerable to people out front. Fine in an empty room or auditorium, but in a busy pub, forget it.
Having said that, once you know what frequency is ringing, the filter sliders work well. After trying various options I now have an audio spectrum analyser app on my phone. I turn up the level until the speakers start to ring (but nowhere near screaming) and point my phone at them. This identifies the peak which I then find on the filter panel and turn it down. Repeating this a number of times I found I can get another 12bB out of the PA (more than twice as loud). You could do this on any multi-band EQ of course.
This is not a quick-fix equaliser; the user needs to know what he's doing. But that's the market Behringer is targeting. The quality is ok.
For the money, it's good value
