The King as splendid and vivid as his Crimson legacy.

The progressive gem sounds incredible. Despite some guitar and drum playing according with the time when this masterpuece was recorded, ITCOTCK is as vital for the genre as fresh to our present time. Steven Wilson and Robert Fripp did an extraordinary polish to a neverending record.

    Great music, waste of dvd

In my opinion : The only reason for the video is one short clip, poor quality, of them performing. The rest of the "video" is still pictures of their album art. The music is "remastered" and of great quality, but basically duplicated songs. Don't waste your money on this "40th anniversary series" Just buy the CD "In The Court Of The Crimson King"

  • All-time classic!

This album first came out in 1969. Although I liked it right off the bat, I was too young to fully comprehend the genius of it then. This music transcends time and, obviously, is way ahead of its' time! Recently, I started listening to Emerson Lake and Palmer again and became enthralled with Greg Lake's vocals. Lake also was the lead vocalist on King Crimson's first album. After listening to some cuts from this album, I knew I had to get a copy of my own! I found out that Robert Fripp had remastered the original tapes from the first album and added alternate takes and unreleased material to what ended up becoming the 40th Anniversary release of this album. So, I searched for it and found it and have no regrets whatsoever!

  • A Classic LP/DVD

This is third version of this musical piece. I bought the LP back in college in the 70's, I purchased the 30th anniversary edition a few years ago. Now, I purchased this cd and dvd. I bought this for the improved sound quality and the DVD history of King Crimson. When I listen to " In The Court Of The Crimson King". I am transported in time to my youth. I would highly recommend this CD/DVD. Don't forget about listening to "McDonald and Giles".

  • 40th Anniversary: In the Court of the Crimson King cd/dvd

The music on this album will always be great! What's disappointing is that the archivists that put out this anniversary compilation didn't include more than a few minutes of poor quality b&w concert footage that looked like it came from a 1969 tv broadcast. It's not worth the addition of the dvd. That being said, the audio quality is very clear, and the addition of various studio outtakes was interesting. It could've just been a single cd. I got this compilation used, for a very fair price. That's the way to go.

  • Keep an open mind and keep your options open, too. Stellar music.

My roommate in Honolulu in 1969-70, recommended King Crimson and it's great. So I looked up the album a few weeks ago and so now I have it on CD. The memories King Crimson bring back to me are delightful. There's nothing bad about the CD, but I wouldn't recommend it to children. A slogan back then was, "War is not healthy for children and other living things." King Crimson isn't warlike, its just entertainment.

  • Quick review of King Crimson - in the court of the crimson king (CD and DVD) plus bonus tracks

Sounds excellent! The DVD is also par to the SACD. The bonus tracks are worth the sum of the total package! Kudos! for a job well done!
