  • A beacon in the dark

What can I say, an excellent book on the fascinating subject of British lighthouses. Thoroughly researched and informative, giving all the details of all British lights. So handy.

  • A potentially good book but ruined by using metric linear measure

This looks like a good book and it is if all your memorised distances and heights are metric but the vast majority of people have learned the above in imperial measure, as are all my memorised details but the Auther arrogantly imposes metric linear measure on the reader, she doesn't even quote in both systems so the reader is quickly exasperated when comparing, for example the heights of new lighthouses with those seen and memorised, in feet . Even our Grandchildren use feet where appropriate, and four of the have University Degrees . So no use saying that this use of Metric is justified by today's educational system . So not recommended by me.
