I love Travis, in fact I'm obsessed with them so I had to buy At The Palace. Unfortunately it has been discontinued so I knew I had to buy it on ebay. This is essential viewing for any Travis fan. The setlist is pretty darn good (especially as my favourite song The Fear was included) and the band perform up to their usual very high standard. The one drawback would be the constant moving camera, it just never stays still! But don't let that stop you buying it because it has far more positives than negatives, for example, the George Michael cover, Fran's solo performance of Some Sad Song and the extra piece of documentary style footage showing you behind the scenes at Alexandra Palace. If you are a Travis fan then quit stalling and buy it!
I think travis have made some great music over the last few years, but as their last cd sold poorly, and the single from it even more so, i think their historical moment has passed. This dvd include everything you would want "Sing" etc, etc and is a must for any Travis fanatic, but for the casual fan a dvd of "The Singles" also exists and this is the one i would recommend. I fear that Travis will either break up in the not too distant future, with lead singer Fran Healy possibly going solo. How many name bands lead singers have gone on to be successful?. Not too many with the exception of Robbie Williams and a few others. Anyway, if you like Travis a great dvd and grab it while you can because i fear this could be deleted soon, if it isn't already.
Having been to see Travis recently quite a few times on their comeback tour, I thought it would be good to see them when they performed a few years ago. I was so pleased with my new DVD, now I can have a concert in my living room whenever I like!! - a truly superb, talented and wonderful band, and having seen them live, very nice chappies as well!!!
Enjoy this live ninety minute set of Travis doing what they do best at Alexander Palace 2003. Not for nothing were they once labelled the band who everybody could sing along with. None of their stuff is bubblegum though, when you read through the brillant choruses and chords you'll find words that we can all relate to. Whether its the thumping heart of 'Love will come through' or the drive that is 'Sing' which gets you singing too - you'll enjoy all twenty two tracks of this rare and still raw genius that is Travis, the band who will ever rise.
Excellent sound and video quality. Travis impress from the opening number and continue throughout. Tremendous!
