Nice laurel and hardy dvd's I love this duet a lot and been searching to add more dvd's do my collection
I love this movie - it isn't great art but it is innocently funny, a rare treat nowadays. Laurel and Hardy go to Switzerland to sell mousetraps (don't ask why), but cannot pay their hotel bill because the currency they have been given is out of date. Consequently they are put to to work in the hotel (chiefly doing endless washing up) in order to cancel their debt. My favourite scene is absolutely hilarious - in order to give one of the guests, a composer, a peaceful place in which to do his work they are directed to transport a piano across a rope bridge over a ravine to a quiet house on the other side. On the way across they encounter a gorilla - again, don't ask why! I originally saw it in black and white, but it is now in colour, thanks to computer technique.
Hi I love Stan and Ollie, and this is full of classic moments, eg the Saint Bernard mountain dog being fooled into giving up his brandy by Stan and some feathers... ! BUT - there's a lot of singing in some of the L+H features, and this is no exception. So, fast forward through the operatic nonsense and enjoy the fun!
This has got to be one of the funniest Laurel and Hardy films ever. The antics of them trying to steal the brandy from the St Bernard, it is absolutely hilarious. Pretending to make snow from plucked feathers, every time I think about it I laugh so hard. I am looking forward to owning my own copy of this so I can watch it whenever i feel like it. Enjoy, anybody else who watches it, you will not be sorry.
This is a classic Laurel and Hardy made as a feature length film. There are some (as you would expect in a Laurel and Hardy film) exceptionally funny sections, I particularly like the piano on the rope bridge, and days washing up for each piece of china broken. Great little twist right at the end
