Barbara Lott plays the cossetting, over-protective, opinionated mother to Ronnie Corbett's witty bumbling, diminutive and bespectacled amateur thespian Timothy. He's never been able to cut the apron strings and lead his own life, and any whiff of romance always gets snuffed out by the supposed high standards of serial saboteur Mrs Lumsden, or is just that she doesn't want to lose her 40-something "baby boy" to a flighty young woman.
