  • Classic British 50s Comedy

Great comedy classic from the fifties. The plot is fairly simple and does not require great concentration, so this is good for relaxing to. There are some excellent comedy moments, the high points being the procession and the speech. Ian Carmichael is a good lead, wandering somewhat out of his depth through problems with keeping his job at the cost of principles, and fending off a predatory female whist chasing the one he wants. The supporting cast fill their places well and the result is entertaining, despite being lightweight comedy. It also contains some good visual joke moments: Professor Welch pausing in the procession next to a statue which is his caricature.
