Additional InformationMichelangelo Antonioni delivers yet another masterful cinematic expose with BLOW UP, his controversial first English-speaking film, a provocative mystery set in the seamy mod culture of London. The film follows a well-known, fashion photographer (David Hemmings) who captures evidence of a murder when he takes some innocent snapshots of a couple in the park. As he digs deeper and deeper into the photograph's actual negative in order to unravel the mystery, he also must contend with a seemingly dangerous woman (Vanessa Redgrave) who knows more than she is letting on. Atmospheric, tense, with a refreshing jolt of humour, Antonioni's stylish thriller influenced the work of many of cinema's most celebrated directors, including Francis Ford Coppola's THE CONVERSATION, Brian De Palma's BLOW OUT, and David Lynch's BLUE VELVET.

Blow Up is a classic - 50 years old!

I love this film. When it came out in 1967 it was a highly acclaimed, and made by a very important director, Antonioni who was held in high regard. It has held up very well and now it is even more interesting to see it with the 60s vibe so well captured.

    Not worth buying this version

This version of the film is censored, in the wrong aspect ratio and butchered quite significantly. Lots of screen missing compared to the tape, so things actually do not appear 9 the DVD at all. Not worth buying. Better to buy a VHS tape version and pay £10 to transfer it to DVD.

  • The 60s

I remember this film as a cult film about the swinging sixties, at the time it was cutting-edge. Now it is still a great account of london as I remember at the time. The characters are a little wooden, overall it is still worth watching even for a glimpse of Janet Street-porter dancing!

  • Entertaining film

Saw this film years ago. Typical 60's style. Good story line about a fed up photographer who accidentally snaps a murder. Very entertaining.

  • Excellent film

This is a classic. An excellent movie. Enigmatic, mysterious, puzzling, this movie has it all. Shows "swinging London" in 1966 in an arty but believable way. Hemmings and Redgrave put in great performances. There is a lot going on. Enjoy!

  • Flashback to the sixties

A strange film in some ways but very engaging and enjoyable, lovely shots of parts of London long gone and now unrecognizable. A film I have watched many times but still enjoy each time.

  • Still the best film ever

I saw it three times when it came out in 1966. I've watched it a dozen times since. The best film ever made.
