This review has to be taken in the context that it was on a very good offer when I bought it, about 2/3 of the normal asking price. I've used it with an electric violin, to add some effects to an old Roland amp without any, and it's a very neat, handy unit. The delay is good, with the usual controls and also an easily accessed tap feature which is great at this price. The reverb is ok, it has 2 settings for decay time, and a level control, but still more variability than the average amp, and it sounds pretty good, certainly worth having as an option. The preamp is a useful feature but most amps have tone controls, although having pre-effect eq is always worthwhile in cases where you're not in an effects loop. And it has a balanced XLR DI output which I haven't tried but which will certainly be handy on stage. AND it comes bundled with a power supply, a wall wart but with a decent length string. It's quiet in use, doesn't really add much in the way of hum or hiss, certainly nothing worth worrying about in a live situation. It's perfect where you want a simple solution to giving a few more options without overcomplicating things, and well thought out for live use. If you want a character for the effects you'd say gentle, there is high frequency roll-off on the delay repeats and reverb, so it's not aggressive, more a flavour than an 'effect' as such, but that's what you actually want for most acoustic use so I'm cool with it. Just amazing the stuff you can get these days. Nice one Sonicake (and classic name too :) )Read full review
