Based on a horrifying true story from World War II and adapted from the autobiographical book by survivor Ernest Gordon, TO END ALL WARS tells the brutal tale of a group of Scottish soldiers who discover just how evil war can be. Major Campbell (Robert Carlyle), Gordon (Ciaran McMenamin), Dusty (Mark Strong), and American Lieutenant Reardon (Kiefer Sutherland) are captured by the Japanese. Beaten, starved, and brutalized, they are then forced to work on the "Railway of Death," building track through an impossibly dense jungle. David L. Cunningham's film focuses on the battles within each individual soldier, adding even more gravity to the picture.

Unmatched insight in to the soldiers' mindsets! Great acting and great true story!!
THe acting is superb, but the true story is the most insightful of any WW2 movie I have seen clearly capturing and contrasting the mindset of the typical and dedicated Japanese soldier to those of the allies who hold more Judeo-Christian values. It makes me very grateful for how things turned out and what many of our soldiers faced. Most of these Allied soldiers were from Ireland.

Phenomenal Story!
I had never heard of this movie - To End All Wars. I purchased a copy in town at a place that has used DVDs ... but could only play half the movie as there was a glitch in the disc. I was able to watch the rest on-line. It is such a moving, well-acted, meaningful movie based on true story that I had to get a good copy for my collection ... which I did from eBay.

If you like war movies especially true stories, this is a little different, if your like me you’ll probably show it 4 different times with other people, in my case my sons, and wonderful wife, look no point in giving away the move , I gave 5 * , and more if i could

A phenomenal movie! Great for any Robert Carlyle fan like me!
With thought provoking morals and intense action, this movie is great for any movie-goer. The acting is top notch, the story inspirational, and the characters engaging. Personally, I bought this movie for Robert Carlyle's performance and was NOT disappointed. He was truly amazing in this film and shined beautifully as a dramatic actor!

War and Redemption
An engaging and well-made movie of a group of elite Scots who were captured and sent to a POW camp in Japan. English men and a featured American were included in this true story of conflict and brotherly comraderie. It is a story of survival and forgiveness after experiencing cruel treatment by the commanding Japanese officers. The POWs were forced to build the Burma railway that connected with Thailand under harsh & starving conditions. Many thousands were killed including conscripted Asians from other countries in building this railway. Not a movie for the lighthearted. The acting is superb; and production design/set are excellent.
