Additional InformationA hilarious, madcap spoof of nearly every Hollywood Western convention, BLAZING SADDLES turns racism on its ear at every turn. When the sheriff of a small frontier town is killed, convict Bart (Cleavon Little) is appointed the first black sheriff of the all-white Rock Ridge by the evil Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Korman) in a plot to chase the townspeople from their homes. The naive Sheriff Bart soon realizes from the less-than-cheery welcome that the townspeople (who all seem to be named Johnson) aren't prepared for a black sheriff and that he was never meant to succeed at all. Enlisting the sensitive town drunk (Gene Wilder), formerly the Waco Kid, Bart embarks on a plan to help save Rock Ridge. A scathing spoof that deals with racism, sexism, and bodily functions, BLAZING SADDLES offers a contrast between picture and words that is shocking, subversive, and hysterical. Director Mel Brooks makes two memorable appearances as both the sleazy governor and a Yiddish-speaking Sioux Indian chief, while Madeline Kahn does a sidesplitting Marlene Dietrich imitation as the town floozy-entertainer. Featuring fabulous comic turns also by Alex Karras, Slim Pickens, and the aformentioned Little, Brooks, Korman, and Wilder, BLAZING SADDLES is one of the raunchiest, funniest, and lovable films ever made.

  • A Classic 70's Comedy Film.

An excellent quality dvd film to watch again and again. The actors were amazing and comical with an excellent cast. Blazing Saddles is a master piece of film history and should be watched by all generations of people who have not seen any film like this.

  • I laughed until my ribs ached.

Not very PC!. Some people may find the racial topic offensive, but if you take the film as it was intended - just to be funny and, if anything, to laugh at racism, it's hilarious. When I first saw the film in a cinema, I laughed so much at the baked-beans scene, that my sides hurt so badly, I nearly cried. When my now ex-wife got the hump because I was showing her up with my uncontrollable laughter, it just made it worse! A very funny film that people of all races can laugh at if they have an open mind.

  • Infamous and controversial comedy!

An absolute classic and a political correctness nightmare! This movie will either have you howling with laughter or hiding behind the sofa in shame! This movie and Monty Pythons Life of Brian are a must for every broad minded lover of comical films!!!

  • Not for Snowflakes

Maybe not for todays Snowflakes because you need a sence of humour to truly enjoy this film. Close to the knuckle at times but truly funny. Loved this film from the 1st time I saw it back in the early 80s whilst serving in the Royal Navy. Warning if you are easily offended need to cry about everything and need a safe place to hide this is not a film for you.

  • Classic comedy western

Great comedy from the great Mel Brooks. I dare you not laugh at the campside scene. You will always remember this scene whenever you eat baked beans!

  • A great laugh in these dark times

Had a copy but mislaid it. Watched this sometimes with tears in my eyes. Not a chance of this being released today in our over P.C. state. Well worth a watch.

  • Politically incorrect but funny

Although it now seems very politically incorrect, this is still classic comedy film and actually makes fun of the now rightly unacceptable attitudes. Worth it for Madelaine Kahn's performance alone.
