Additional InformationThis gentle Ealing Studios comedy features young William Fox as a mischievous English lad. A goodly portion of the film shows Fox and his companions at play, aimlessly but enjoyably wandering about their neighborhood in search of adventure. Eventually the boy finds a discarded magnet, believing it to be a good-luck token; it turns out to be just that, enabling the boy to become a hero of sorts.
A very good film for views of Liverpool and New Brighton in the '50s. The story is fair, and its good to see actors starting out on their careers, not a classic, but good fun and nostalgic.
This film recalls the days of polio epidemics and the infancy of the National Health Service. It also speaks to the camaraderie among boys of all classes. The acting is excellent.
This is lovely old film for anyone that has childhood memories of New Brighton. It brings back times when the donkeys were on the beach & has a little "moral" tale in there too.
