This album starts out way too mellow. Track 1 is "I've Been Trying" and begins with strings, piano and soft vocals. Acoustic guitar and flute are added and a multi-tracked Lenny Wolf sings. Electic guitar appears at 1:25 with power drumming kicking in at 1:38. I will admit to skipping track 1 on my first listen because I expected the track to be total mellow. It's not but as a 1st track/album lead-in it's all wrong. A good track in the wrong place. Track 2 is "Should I" and it announces itself right away. I like this track. Drums are upfront and in your face with a good hook riff and catchy keyboards. "Should I" is very good. Track 3 (You'll Never Know) starts off with acoustic guitars and keyboards. Lenny soon sings a lyric about past love and while the song IS mellow I do like this a lot. There are no drums until 1:47 and the song picks up speed but it's a good song through and through. Track 4 is Both of Us. A rocking track that I like a great deal. Great guitar hooks. Swirling synths. Track 5 is Stay. Another very up-tempo rocker with a solid hard rock guitar hook. This song is Graet guitar and Lenny's voice. A winning track. Track 6 is Blood on The Land. After a brief into Lenny sings "Do You Feel The Danger?". a mid-tempo rocker with a blistering hook. The lyics try to be topical in a sense that Lenny sings of "raping holy lands". Bosnia? Israel? I am not sure. Depends on the headlines prior to the albums release. Track 7 is Shot Down. It begins with a sinister bass riff. followed by a strong synth line. Mid-tempo ballad. A lot of drum effects. The synth riff is key here. there are 4 more tracks but except for the very deceptive overly-mellow beginning this is a pretty good album with a lot of power ballads and hard rock. Kingdom Come has a lot of great albums to be bought and played. Check them out.Read full review
