This is Imogen Heap's first ever solo album, she was about 17 years of age when she released it, and it's fantastic. It's more songwriting-strong rather than electronic trickery, and it's fascinating to hear her in this simpler (compared with Speak For Yourself) sound scape. I originally ordered it from the Canadian headquarters of a well-known internet retailer, and after seven weeks of waiting, cancelled the order.. even though it was in stock, they hadn't bothered to ship it... uhh! So eBay to the rescue, which by that time, had become more populated by this specific CD (it was re-released recently).. and a few clicks later I'd bought it for cheap. Brand new, sealed, glorious.
I love all of Imogen's music, she has a fabulous and unique voice, this is her first album and I think one of the best. 'I megaphone' is an anagram of 'Imogen Heap' Songs that stand out on top: Getting scared Rake it in sleep come here boy Sweet religion Anyone who likes listening to Jem, Frou frou, KT tunstall, Bjork will love her music. :)
This is a fantastic album that should be part of everybody's collection. It holds the amazing Come Here Boy and also Candlelight. It's much more raw than her more recent stuff, with real feeling. A beautiful piece of work that makes you think.
