Another of David Attenborough's long list of fascinating Documentary series, this time for budding paeleontologists. It describes in detail how fossils are formed and how comparatively rare they are if the circumstances are not right. From the fossil remains, scientists can deduce the Ecology of the time and how it's inhabitants lived, hunted, bred and and cared for their young, and the societies they lived in.This documentary also shows how fossils not only show the bones but sometimes even soft tissues that demonstrate their physiology and appearance. There are scenes that show the bizarre diversity of life through the ages that leave one in awe of Mother Nature. This 4 episode series beautifully compliments the BBC's walking with Dinosaurs and Monsters series, showing how all the information for these programmes was obtained from little snippets of information from numerous Paleontologists from all over the world condensed into a 156 minute series. Enjoyable and ultimately informative.Read full review
