Based on the novel by Jerome K Jerome (I bet no one knows what the k stands for - it's Klapka - ) it is a light comedy set in simpler and more innocent times, about 3 chums (and a pet dog - Montmorency who is the smartest of the 4 by far) who take a boat up the Thames from Kingston to Oxford & back, and their adventures on the way. A rather unlikely casting of Lawrence Harvey (better known for dramatic work) David Tomlinson (who is just the actor you'd expect in a film of this sort of this era) & Jimmy Edwards better known for radio & stage work.) A nice bit of escapism with some beautiful scenerey.

Well, I've collected over 2,500 moviex, with about 60% that I copied of TV over the last 15 years. Way back I prepared a list from Silent through the 60's with a few after. Created 16 manuals, listed as Bette Davis, Adventure, Biography, Comedy, Drama, Musical, Mystery, Silent, War, Western & Sciene Fiction, and the last - Are You Being Served-Blondie-Abbott & Costello-Keeping Up Appearnces-Chaplain. These manuals list the movies, description, Actors & Actresses and Posters (Some I found on the Internet, magazines, others I created by running the movie on my computer and picked the Title and One Image. Created another Mnaual listing the Actors & Actress, their movies (listing numbers that I have) along with a picture of all of them, and their awards. My last manual lists alphabetically all the movies, date, category (comedy, etc.) and number if I have them. Today I have most but keep searching for about 200 more I want and enjoy searching Ebay and TCM. But at age 74, I will eventually have to sell everything off so that my 3 daughters don't get stuck with it all.Read full review

Three Men In A Boat by Jerome K. Jerome has long been one of my favourite comic stories. So a film based on the tale (note: it is not very true to the book) attracted my interest. It is a slight, rather episodic story, with three amiable stars not really at their best. The film is however amusing, and serves until a better version comes along. Technically the DVD is rather poor. The picture is rather degraded, and has an annoying jump in the middle, with the picture out of register. The recording has a television channel logo (Performance Channel) at the beginning before the film proper, leading me to believe that it is not a first generation copy.
old style tale but it was in the 1890s three old duffers go up the thames in a boat all boys own stuff ( i would love to do it today but i bet u wont be allowed!?) nice soft read the film is better but good british stuff (for old gits like me really!).
