'Black Books' is a bookshop owned by Bernard Black (Dylan Moran) a dour, sociopathic alcoholic who takes great delight in both belittling his customers and torturing his sole employee, the shy, put-upon oaf Manny (Bill Bailey). They are joined in their musings by Fran (Tamsin Greig), who has failed in life to such a degree that her visits to the bookshop are the highlight of her day. It is here that their limitless stupidity results in some classic comedy moments. I discovered this comedy series quite late, certainly after it had had its run on Channel 4, and as a result i was able to enjoy all 6 episodes in one viewing. I have since bought Series 1 and 2 and urge all to buy or borrow these dvd's as an antidote to the dumbed-down dross we find on tv, all to often, today. This dvd is presented in 16;9 Anamorphic widescreeen and features a Stereo Dolby Digital soundtrack. Extras include Out-takes, Deleted scenes and trailers.Read full review
