Additional InformationIn one of their few non-Clouseau efforts, Blake Edwards and Peter Sellers preserve the spirit of the French bumbler in the person of Hrundi V. Bakshi, an accident-prone Indian actor. Brought to Hollywood to play the title role in SON OF GUNGA DIN, Bakshi destroys the film's most elaborate set with his bungling and is banned from the set by Edward Clutterbuck (J. Edward McKinley), the film's producer. But because of an error by the producer's secretary, Bakshi's name is added to the guest list of his next party, an A-list affair. Shortly after arriving, Bakshi begins accidentally dismantling Clutterbuck's carefully staged event, destroying a flower bed, knocking a servant through a bay window, and triggering the lawn sprinklers, soaking the producer's pretentious guests. When the producer's daughter, Molly (Kathe Green), and a group of her friends arrive with a Day-Glo-painted elephant, Baskhi is shocked by the sacrilege and insists on washing the pachyderm in one of the house's indoor pools. As the other guests begin to join in the fun, pandemonium erupts. Sellers is typically brilliant in a film abounding in sidesplitting sight gags.

    If you liked Pink Panther you will enjoy this

    Great movie. Peter Sellers was brilliant and so was the waiter who got more and more drunk. A period piece, of course and not woke but very funny and a clever concept by having the movie set in one long scene. ( apart from the introduction).

    A party is given at a mansion

    Peter Sellers at his best as an accident prone Indian actor. From dirtying his shoe in the car park of the boss of the studio,a continuous flow of hilarious accidents results in chaos. A very funny movie

    Very funny movie.

    Although this is a Peter Sellers comedy, and his characterisation of an Indian movie actor, caught in the high flying parties of America, there are many other good scenes, with laughs coming all the time. Watch out fore the drinks waiter.......he almost steals it from Sellers !

    The Party is a real gem.

    My favourite Peter Sellers film and to finally have it on DVD is pure joy. It is hilarious, both Sellers and the actor that plays the drunken waiter shine in this Blake Edwards film. Disc two is crammed full of extras with a very good interview with Sellers. Well worth buying.
