ALISON GOLDFRAPP n will gregory are by far one the best electro band alongside MOLOKO ROISIN MURPHY they are a blend of MOLOKO , Portishead with a hint of Shakespears sister vocal styling.. i would give anything to see them live. theyre one of the only bands i havnt seen live ever!!!!!!!
First thing to mention is that you get two discs, one live show on each DVD. One show is live at somerset house and the other disc has the live performance from shepherds bush empire. Personally i prefer the live performance at somerset house because it has more tracks performed from the album 'Black Cherry'. Both shows are loud, sexy and wonderfully electric and with a hint of naughty-ness. Alison always puts on a good show and keeps the masses entertained with her hip swinging and foot stomping and great vocals. Goldfrapp fan or not, this is a great DVD to at least watch once.
I love the group and seeing this DVD a few years on from it's initial release further enforces why! Although I found their first album Felt Mountain heavy going (which is featured heavily on this live set), I thought their follow up electropop album "Black Cherry" was excellent - especially as I have a penchant for that style of sound more that the more "intellectual" acousticy sound if I was being honest! The live set on this DVD shot at Somerset House in London during the summer of 2003 features all the tracks off Black Cherry and odd ones from Felt Mountain - and it is generally a very enjoyable live performance from the group, even if not the finest live showing I've ever witnessed......! 8/10 is a fair rating I would personally say!
