They are allegedly programmed not to harm humans, but as Spooner digs deeper, his investigations lead him to a new type of robot that Lanning was working on before his death, and one of these models--the highly charismatic Sonny--becomes the prime suspect in the case. Spooner bears a grudge against robots due to an unfortunate incident, so his case against Sonny is met with shrugs of indifference from colleagues who know his prejudices all too well. Fortunately he meets an ally, and a romantic interest, in Dr. Susan Calvin (Bridget Moynahan), who agrees to help him. As Sonny is cured of his violent tendencies, the other robots amass across the city, working on the assumption that they need to control humanity in order to safeguard its future. Director Proyas unleashes a fearsome arsenal of special effects, while Spooner and Calvin chase the errant robots all over the city. Sonny's facial features and voice are digitally manipulated from the actor Alan Tudyk, lending an unnerving element of humanity to the character. Smith and Moynahan give convincing performances throughout, and as the action races towards a nail-biting conclusion, the message of the movie suggests that technologies built to help mankind could also provide its downfall.

Am I your friend detective spooner?
I Robot is an epic movie set in a future where robots work and live alongside humans. Will Smith plays a hardened and cynical old school cop, the only man around who seems to see the inherent danger sitting inside the apparantly innocent and helpful robot population. On a murder investigation everyone else dismisses Smiths suspicions and theories as being motivated by his misgivings about our electronic friends. But seeing the increasingly suspicious behaviour of one robot, the enigmatic Sonny, you are forced to question as to whether Smith's character is on the right track. The film is loosely based on the novel from Isaac Asimov, and it is a quality action-packed, CGI stuffed journey from start to finish. A decent and entertaining popcorn hollywood bockbuster worthy of the small screen at home.Read full review

Glass of wine, comfy sofa, phone off the hook film
This is a modern spin on Asimov story - and sometimes the movement is too fast, but heck - its only with special effects that you put these sort of action scenes. Put robots, will smith, and clever art work together and was always going to be entertaining. To be honest did not care for the plot - but it did not matter, its the action that matters here. The film certainly runs a pace, but personally I found the ending bit too arty following the violent movement. The value of DVD fails once you start seeing the show on the TV but have to say this is one to have ready for young boys and dull Sundays. Would not want to pay top price - its not that good but the main man is good at anything - and guess what - no heavy romance.

Action all the way..
What will you do with yours? In the year 2035, technology and robots are a trusted part of everyday life. But that trust is broken when a scientist is found dead and a skeptical detective (Smith) believes that it may have been perpetrated by a robot. However his investigation uncovers a larger threat to humanity!

Excellent!
I have seen many of his films and was eager to see this one. I was not dissappointed. The star proved he could be emotional and funny. The writers showed us that the star and his leading lady could have had a love affair, there was just enough to make us believe it was possible. Plenty of action I thoroughly enjoyed this filmin this film, but there was also a secret sadness of the detective. I thoroughly enjoyed this film, I Robot.

i love science fiction and it is great science fiction movie with will smith who is one of the actors i like.his performance is as always very solid. all around very good action movie which you can easily watch with children around aswell
