About this product

Product Information

Call of Cthulhu is a first-person horror adventure set in an appropriately disturbing universe based on the works of author H.P. Lovecraft. The game's 3D-rendered environments are not static, as windows can be broken and walls can collapse, adding to the sense of the unknown and encouraging player interaction. As the adventure progresses through diverse locations, the player will also be called upon to pilot a variety of different vehicles, including an airplane, a submarine, and even a dogsled. Multiplayer features are supported, as up to four gamers can join for cooperative play over a local network or the Internet. Online players can also face off in deathmatch battles.

  • What an eldrich and outré thing this game is.

The esoteric and antiquarian nature of this game's story is evocative of nightmarish imagery. The graphics have a gnawing tenebrous quality that gets under your skin, while there are a few displacing elements, such as plainly polygonal wheels, and low resolution haging photographs and paintings, the exellent environment textures and the use of separate model peices in doors and cracks in walls, and the like add a level of pseudo-realism that many games, ecen now, are afraid to explore, opting instead to utilize bumpmap textures to create illusory depth, but this game has the guts to put multi part doors even on buildings that are never deplorable. I truly appreciate the boldness of this game for its time. The method of installation is highly convenient as well.
