Into the Gap: The Thompson Twins' BEST EVER ALBUM!!
Way way back in February 1984, I'd first heard the Thompson Twins classic "Hold Me Now", then not long after, saw the music video. At the tender age of 10 years, I was instantly hooked!! "Hold Me Now" is a catchy, yet deeply emotional track that truly pulls one's heartstrings, as well as breaks one's heart. The follow-up track of "Doctor Doctor" has a similar sense of urgency and longing for seemingly unattainable love. A few other tracks of this seminal album are also worth mentioning, such as the tragic "Sister of Mercy", the uplifting "You Take Me Up" and the funky title track "The Gap", which is somewhat reminiscent of the Thompson Twins' debut hit "In the Name of Love." Anyway, if you listen to this album for the very first time, you absolutely will not be disappointed. Each and every track has poignant and meaningful lyrics which are enhanced by distinctively catchy beats & melodies hardly ever present in most current pop/rock songs.
I wanted the original 1-disc CD of this terrific album because the track listing of the 2-disc remastered edition was different. Comparing the two, I felt that the mastering of this CD was of excellent quality and suited my needs.
If you were a music fan in the mid-80s you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing a song from this band. Like so many others back then, they made their mark with at least one unforgettable album and this is the one Thompson Twins will be remembered for. Highly recommended.
