About this product

Product Information

Make Mine Music' (VHS, 2000, Gold Collection Edition) is a musical extravaganza from Walt Disney. Split into ten segments, the animated feature has different stories set to music, such as Peter and the Wolf, The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met, and Casey at the Bat. Released in 1946 with a running time of 76 minutes, the feature was the result of numerous stories being left unfinished in the studio due to Walt Disney staff being drafted throughout WWII. The studio put these segments together in package films to keep the releases going during wartime. The Gold Collection Edition is the eighth full-length animated feature for the Disney Animated Canon.

  • Sweet classics, great music and some bits I've never seen!

I love the classic Disney with big band music. The animation is charming, the music is fun, but also the atmosphere of many of the shorts capture sad wartime loneliness. Many of them I've never seen. "All the cats join in", "The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met"," Johnnie Fedora and Alice Bluebonnet" "Casey at the bat" and "Peter and the wolf" were the most familiar to me; the rest were quite melancholy. Absolutely a must if your collecting classic Disney, when cartoons had some quality.
