About this product

Product Information

Julien Temple's second documentary profiling punk rock pioneers the Sex Pistols is an enlightening, entertaining trip back to a time when the punk movement was just discovering itself. Featuring archival footage, never-before-seen performances, rehearsals, and recording sessions as well as interviews with group members who lived to tell the tale--including the one and only John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten)-- THE FILTH AND THE FURY is a relevant viewing experience for those unfamiliar with the band; for fans, it's mandatory viewing.

  • Rock and Roll re-energised - An Anti-Celebration

You may well have to be British to get where the Sex Pistols were coming from. After all, their principal was to rebel against something, ie: rock and roll, that was already rebellious. But what pissed off the Pistols was not only the grim state of their country, but that the great escapism from it - guitar rock - had become seemingly a big-business, untouchable, bloated industry. And as Julien Temple's film shows us, their great achievement was to urbanise rock, strip it back to its basics, and fire it with a power and inspiration that still resonates today. Sadly, the group was torn to pieces in a very ugly way, due to mismanagement and notoriety. But this film seeks to zero in on what really mattered - the fantastic, undying impression they made. A new life for Rock and Roll. Hopefully you don't just have to be British to get that.
