The Definitive Book on Pre-Code Hollywood Films
If you're interested in Pre-Code Hollywood Films, the period from 1030 - 1934 when films stretched society's boundaries, this is the best book I've found. Neatly categorizing the films by sub-genre, travel, sex, crime, etc.; this book also places the films into the cultural environment. Then the Code is enforced, the lines cannot be crossed, and it was thirty years before some of these topics were addressed on the screen again.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
