Sports Night: The Complete Series (DVD, 2002)

About this product

Product Information

SPORTS NIGHT was the brainchild of Aaron Sorkin (A FEW GOOD MEN) and ran on ABC from 1998 until 2000 as a critically acclaimed look behind the scenes at a very SPORTSCENTER-like show from which the series takes its name. Peter Krause and Josh Charles star as Casey McCall and Dan Rydell, the show's anchors, with Rydell being the series's focal point as a young and slightly idealistic sports journalist who has an endearing way of standing up for the dignity of his profession. A behind-the-scenes look at the production of a television show, SPORTS NIGHT is not at all about sports, but about the show's frantic, often quirky characters who often have to wrestle with tough moral and ethical questions about journalism as well as the occasional turkey thawing on the hot lights above the anchor desk.

  • Aaron Sorkin-Who knew?

Loved this show during its run, which was WAY too short, but it introduced a LOT of future stars, most notably,Felicity Huffman. Who knew we were witnessing the making of the TV greatness that is Aaron Sorkin?

  • One of the best sit coms ever - witty, funny, delightful

One of the best sit coms ever made - witty and fun. Most people avoided it because: it's not about sports, despite the title, so non- sports people don't even try it - and it's witty and funny and not about sports, so sports people try it and don't like it. Wish it had had a better title. Aaron Sorkin wrote it and went on to the West Wing after this was cancelled. We think Sports Night was even better than the West Wing.

  • Fantastic "Sports Night" by Aaron Sorkin series set on DVD in great condition

I love this 90's Aaron Sorkin show which takes place inside the World Trade Center in NYC, so it's a nice trip down memory lane. The set I received was in very good condition after some slight cleaning.

  • IT'S Sorkin. What else do you need to know?

This is Aaron Sorkin's initial foray into series television and is absolutely brilliant in every respect. The writing, the ensemble cast whose ability to verbally parry and dance to Sorkin's Chayefskian verbal choreography rendered them each and together unforgettable, making this, a mere two season show, a landmark in the television landscape.

  • TRY IT, YOU"LL LOVE IT

I believe, this is the greatest show, no one ever heard of. In 2 seasons, it won mega awards. I remember when it was on the 2nd season, the network keep changing the time and day it was on, it made it hard to watch. When i 1st had Netflix, they carried it, Everyone I told to watch it, loved it. It's not about sports. The characters are newspeople on a sports show, TRY IT, YOU"LL LOVE IT

  • The characters grow on you the more you watch

It's a fast paced series with many characters. Once you sort out relationships, the actors get you hooked. The male and female actors compete for your attention. Most of them are very likable and you want to know what they do next.

  • Aaron Sorkin ROCKS!

Such intelligent writing. This is the first series of his that is meant to run in half hour episodes, but is still great storytelling and FUNNY. Loved West Wing and The Network, too.

  • Early Aaron Sorkin

I am a huge Aaron Sorkin fan and had always wanted to see this series. It didn't run in the UK. I enjoyed it, found the characters entertaining but it didn't quite make the impact on me that Sorkin's later work did - think West Wing, Newsroom, Studio 60. It looks a little dated now. I didn't get a lot of the US sports references so it would be more enjoyable for US Sorkin fans. I have no regrets whatsoever about buying it and still think Aaron Sorkin is the Shakespeare of his day.

  • The best ever sitcom!

The characters are awesome. The acting is great, most went on get huge roles in later projects. I love the use of music to set the mood: funny or sad. I laugh or cry still to this day, when I watch most episodes. The show was just hitting it's stride when it was cut short!
