This is among my all-time favourite films. The story is expertly adapted from Pushkin's original 'verse novel'. The producers did an excellent job of creating this beautiful film on a very low budget and director Martha Fiennes excelled herself. All the cast are great although in my personal opinion it would have been better to have Lena Headey play Tatiana and Live Tyler play Olga. It's a great tale, well told, and immensely satisfying. It's a shame that this superb film was largely ignored when it was released, since the cash-strapped makers simply didn't have much of a budget for promotion or publicity and in any case couldn't compete with the Hollywood advertising machine. It is, nonetheless, a magnificent achievement in all departments and I hope many more people will come to know, enjoy and love this superb story, brilliantly well told by Fiennes and her cast and crew.Read full review
