Mick Davis' warmly affectionate film is set in the tiny Scottish village of Inverdoune where there's two watering holes, Benny's Bar and up-market wine bar Le Bistro, who play an annual soccer match that Benny's always loses. But as they approach the 100th match, Benny's Bar is at stake - if they win, Big Tam (Ian Holm) loses his bar to ex-football pro George 'Gorgeous' Gus (Richard E Grant), the snooty wine bar owner, who promises to demolish it. Defeat seems certain but milkman Wullie Smith (Max Beesley), despite being handicapped, has a massive knowledge of sport. And not all football matches are won on the field... Featuring Pierce Brosnan and with a cameo appearance from Newcastle Utd's Alan Shearer.
