The film has no real plot because it's all a series of images and visions inspired by the words of the songs of Pink Floyd ( 1979 self-titled LP The Wall ) . The protagonist Pink (the good Bob Geldof in his film debut ) is a famous rock singer addict , idolized by his fans and cleverly manipulated by his manager. Looking forward to performing on stage closes in a hotel room in front of a television broadcasting war films and inspiring Pink to rethink his life. Back at the thought of his sad childhood without his father died in the war , victim of a possessive mother , a school teacher with authoritarian sadists , think about the revolution of '68, the violence of police repression , the choice of the woman and the marriage failed, the hated fans who love him but that enslave him .

About this product

Product Information

Loosely based on the life story of Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd's original front man (who was kicked out of the band for his bizarre and disturbing behavior only to go insane shortly thereafter), PINK FLOYD: THE WALL stars Bob Geldof as Pink, a mentally damaged man who has gone from a hopeful child artist to a burned-out rock star drifting away from reality. As Pink festers in his hotel room, elements of his abusive childhood come back to haunt him until he begins to descend into absolute madness.<BR>Director Alan Parker's intense and fully realized film interpretation of the English band's classic album, THE WALL melds whimsical fantasy with dark Shakespearean drama. The film makes innovative use of sets, costumes, and special effects to create a unique surrealistic strangeness worthy of Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali's UN CHIEN ANDALOU. Both disturbing and bedazzling, PINK FLOYD: THE WALL is a must-see film for any music lover.

  • Basically, "The Dog's Bollocks". What else can I say?

As a teenage punk rocker, I always had a soft spot for Pink Floyd. No exaggeration, but can honestly say that over the years I must have watched it 100+ times. It seems never to get boring, and for it's day, "The Wall" still has the best special effects that would put Steven Spielberg to shame over 30 years on. All I can add is, please don't put off seeing this fantastic film before you die. I personally recommend it. Just get out there and buy it ok.

  • Bob Geldof does well

Geldof works against a difficult soundscape. The imagery is great but the audio is so varying, going from too quiet to thundering volume throughout the suggested storyline
