About this product
Product Information
Perennially at the top of every all-time-greats list, and indisputably one of the landmarks of cinema. Bogart is Rick Blaine, an American expatriate and war profiteer in WW II Morocco. He's content to merely run the Cafe Americain until love in the form of a Ilsa, the luminous Bergman, returns to his life after breaking his heart years before. Ilsa's husband Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid) is the Czech Resistance leader whose only hope of safe transport, and Ilsa's, from Morocco is Rick Blaine. Ilsa offers herself as a bargaining tool to encourage Rick to transport her husband, but he must choose between his own happiness and the lives of others. An accidental Hollywood masterpiece, this spine-tingling tear-jerker just gets better and better - as time goes by.

A classic movie which I didn’t have a copy of. I know DVD’s are going out of fashion but I have a large collection and while the player which is quite new keeps working I will keep this great film in my collection
Good value. Good acting. The plot stands the test of time. But sound reproduction proved irritating in the extreme, with the dialogue constantly having to be tuned up to full pitch - and the musical interludes then blaring out and having to be tuned down.
The 'star' categories you offered are not appropriate in my opinion. It is a first class film well acted and excellently produced. 70 + years since its making it must be considered as a timeless classic.
I watched a quiz show with questions about this movie and realised it must have a compelling content. Second world war drama, good story, good acting. Good Sunday afternoon filler.
Great old story of war time Africa with scenic club life and escapism intertwined with human misery and an analysis of human emotion stretched to its limits . A must see film that examines all the contours of the pressures faced by those unwillingly caught up in WW2
