A classic movie which I didn’t have a copy of. I know DVD’s are going out of fashion but I have a large collection and while the player which is quite new keeps working I will keep this great film in my collection

Good value. Good acting. The plot stands the test of time. But sound reproduction proved irritating in the extreme, with the dialogue constantly having to be tuned up to full pitch - and the musical interludes then blaring out and having to be tuned down.

Casablanca is a 1942 American romantic drama film directed by Michael Curtiz, starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid, and featuring Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre and Dooley Wilson. Set during World War II, it focuses on a man torn between, in the words of one character, love and virtue. He must choose between his love for a woman and helping her and her Czech Resistance leader husband escape from the Vichy-controlled Moroccan city of Casablanca to continue his fight against the Nazis. I love films created in the 40's that have Humphrey Bogart in them. I also love black and white films. This DVD was on offer cheaply and so I bought it. A good purchase!
The 'star' categories you offered are not appropriate in my opinion. It is a first class film well acted and excellently produced. 70 + years since its making it must be considered as a timeless classic.

I watched a quiz show with questions about this movie and realised it must have a compelling content. Second world war drama, good story, good acting. Good Sunday afternoon filler.
