Dario Argento's film begins with Anthony Franciosa as the author of a successful novel, Tenebrae, who arrives in Rome on a promotional tour. But his arrival seems to be the trigger for a series of gruesome murders all taken from the plot of his novel and, as the tension (and body count) mounts, he tries to track down the murderer.
