real value for money,so funny that all 15plus should see this. nothing at all to dislike a real treat to watch from start to finish. one of the best original comedies ever
A nice enough film with references to the Godfather films, with a reasonable plot and some good humour-if you like Billy Crystal. Robert DeNiro is good, but my God he cannot do crying as an actor-you wonder if it is meant to be fake!! Engaging enough and a good way to relax, no major surprises, would watch again.
Extremely funny with Robert De Niro as tough mobster Paul Vitti seeking psychiatric therapy from character Ben Sobel played by Billy Crystal. Strong parallels to Sopranos and the Godfather which is both positive and negative as story line familiar however there is sufficient originality to grip the viewer. Furthermore the use of familiar actors and characters gives viewer immediate insight. The comedy is in the irony of the powerful gangster having panic attacks along with the psychiatrist's own hang ups being revealed. I would highly recommend this film. Rated 15 99mins approx.
The film is about a gangster who goes to a psychiatrist for help to deal with his unresolved issues about his father. It starred Robert De Niro (as the gangster), Lisa Kudrow, and Billy Crystal (as the Psychiatrist). The film does its very best to depict some aspects of the lives of gangsters. Some of the gangster scenes are beautifully scripted and the cast, carefully selected. Billy Crystal does a fabulous job of playing the shrink whose life is taken over by his patient. The combination of Crystal, De Niro and Kudrow is exciting and full of humour. I bought this dvd to help me see the funny side of being a Therapeutic Counsellor. Highly recommended.
what more is there to say mr de niro doing gangster/comedy, i bought the movie as i just love any thing de niro does ,, watch out for the many witty comments and how much he gets on billy cystals characthers nerves. the meeting with the mob bosses is also very funny as ben (the shrink) does the meeting making the mob sters very angry and deniro saves the day .
A good film, plenty of bad language though and sets the scene nicely for the sequel `Analyse that` which in my humble opinion is the funnier of the two films. De Niro and Crystal are very watchable in this.
Billy Crystal plays a psychiatrist about to marry his girlfriend (Lisa Kudrow from ‘Friends’), when he is chosen by a Mafia boss who is experiencing panic attacks (played by Robert De Niro) to provide psychotherapy. This film will have you laughing out loud, it is very funny and a good film to watch with your feet up, to chill out. Directed by Harold Ramis (Caddyshack, Groundhog Day).
De Niro plays a stereo-typical Mafioso Boss in style with a tongue in cheek humour only a great actor could get away with, Billy Crystal plays his shrink in his typically dry and witty way culminating in a hilarious movie that get a big thumps up from me. With many laugh out loud moments and characters you can't help but warm to this movie is a must watch for the comedy fan. Rating 5/5
