Reviews4.5 out of 5 stars - "...Captures all the intensity that made their work together so gripping, so full of possibility and so impossible to sustain.", 5 stars out of 5 -- "Richard Thompson gives full vent to his talent on this dark, brooding album.", "Seductively bleak...", Included in Q Magazine's Best Folk Albums of All Time - "...confirmed Richard Thompson as the authentic voice of English music....The fearless use of seemingly incompatible instruments...provided a compelling backdrop for Linda's bruised voice and rarely has misery sounded so persuasive.", "Its songs treat drink, festivity, and even love as fleeting escapes from life’s difficulties, staring through the good times to the black holes that often lie behind them.", "Calling on the services of CWS Silver Band, the title track surely ranks as one of the most joyful tunes ever written about painting the town red at the end of the working week."

I had formerly been a fan of Richard Thompson work since the Fairport days, and then recently watched a documentary concerning his early solo career, which also featured his wife Linda's work...this is a fantastic collection, highly recommended.
