ReviewsRolling Stone - True to the city and time... With the greatest cinematic beach showdown this side of QUADROPHENIA, Entertainment Weekly - Rousing '70s filmmaking, Variety - Vivid lensing... Deft editing... The cast of unknowns is remarkably strong, USA Today - A striking example of style and energy over content... The movie benefits from bright color schemes and occasional left-field imagery, Uncut - Walter Hill's tense, mesmerising gang thriller from 1979 gets the full whistles-and-bells treatment, New York Times - Hill is on to something... A stark yet extravagant visual style
Additional InformationUrban lawlessness of New York City street gangs is the theme of this violent drama about a Coney Island gang trying to get back to their turf after being set up for murder at a multi-gang gathering.

  • AGED BUT KIND OF A CLASSIC, ANYWAY...

This Movie has it´s huge fan-club, thats for sure. But almost 40 years old, it has it´s flaws and mediocre acting sometimes. Some cool script allright - gangland controversy - and a classic soundtrack makes it a late 70´s memorable movie still today. The playtime is just 100 % fit for this drama. Some actors were to return in future Walter Hill movies, a couple in "48 HRS" (1982.) I rank this a strong 6 out of 10. A lot aged, but A lot fun too.
