The late Sean Connery running around in his underwear in a dystopian future? What’s not to like? This vision of the futures owes a lot to Brave New World, but is entertaining enough in its own right. With gun-toting fanatics and pleasure-seeking hippies, and a Big Stone Head, this is good fun if you don’t take it too seriously

Zardoz is set in a post human society where certain elite sections of society have segregated themselves off from the rest of the human race [whom they call the Brutals] in "vortexes" which are areas of space time existing inside a "bubble" which cannot be penetrated by physical means. The elites control and experiment with the lives of the brutals as their Gods, but life inside the bubble has become intolerable, emotionless and sterile, with sub sections of the community going "Renegade" [insane] and also "apathetic" which induces a catatonic state. However when "Z" [Connery], a brutal, arrives at the vortex [due to an experiment by one of the elites gone awry] the Elites soon find the nature of the humanity they segregated themselves from seeding itself amongst their community with complex and disastrous effects. This film works on so many levels, definitely a film you should see before you die.Read full review
