Great album
I like this. It seems to show a softer and more intelligent side to The Who. Not to say The Who are normally unintelligent, far from it, but that might be some, perhaps older people's impression when they hear the harder, louder numbers with Roger's aggressive vocal style, Pete's guitar technics, and 'wild man' Keith's brilliant but manic drumming (I'm sure 'Animal' from 'The Muppets' was based on him!) No, there are a lot of quiet, gentle interludes and songs on this album, alongside hard, brilliant rockers like 'Pinball Wizard', which means you could probably play it to your granny, let alone your parents! So it's varied, intelligent and subtle, and tells a really good story as well. You feel so sorry for Tommy at first with his crippling, multiple disabilities and the horrendous physical and sexual abuse he encounters from his cousin and uncle respectively. But he has this great gift of pinball and becomes a champion, then as a leader who people want to follow. Triumph through adversity. Tommy wins and you feel really uplifted. Yes, a great, classic album which will still be popular centuries from now. Can't wait to see it live!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
