If you're like me in your 30's then this a trip down memory lane, the music, Commander Adama and those shiny Cylons are what I used to love when I watched it as a kid. Set in the future (or past depending how you look at it) the tale basically tells us that the Cylons have tricked the 12 colonies into a massive defeat and only one Battlestar is left, the Galactica, this film shows the trek in perhaps finding a long lost planet named Earth. It's sheer entertainment, yeah sure the story is corny and so is the acting but the effects aren't too bad and it brought back the same enjoyment as when I was younger so in my view a damn good buy, so tempted to buy the series now (this is the film (pilot?). Not sure if it's like the new series as haven't seen them, but it has an innocence which I reckon the new series hasn't. All in all well worth a trip down memory lane, now where's that model kit of a Viper I've got somewhere?!Read full review
I loved this film as a kid and still enjoy it now. As well as space battles it has that time thing going on. Civilisations more advanced than us and have been for thousands of years, and they are trying to find us in the hope we'll save them!!!! Some funny moments, some ropey moments, ie. same efects shots repeated, but it was supposed to be serialised and I guess the editors thought we wouldn't notice over the weeks, but as a film - they crop up and it shows. Some eye candy for the girls and the boys and a robo dog if that's your thing. I wonder if Starbucks were named after Starbuck? Could've been Boxeys for coffee. Anyway, great film with brilliant bad guys, and there's a hilarious piece of dialogue where the cylons have been thwarted and are reporting to the head guy with the afro - can't remember it but watch out for it. They are almost as stupid as stormtroopers.. but they can shoot straight.. almost!Read full review
