This film tells the story of a girl (Audrey Hepburn)who is a bookstore clerk and is transformed into model when Fred Astaire (photographer)and his team arrive at the store for a fashion shoot. The plot lines in old style musicals are never very strong - they are not meant to be, but its the sheer talent, music, (in this case songs by George & Ira Gershwin)& costumes that showcase exactly why Hollywood Musicals were extremely good. You have to remember there were no special effects, so each routine had to be danced again and again to get it just right. You will never see talent like this again. Its a perfect film for a rainy afternoon, and one which makes you feel good - need I say anymore!!
I bought this for my sister who loves Audrey Hepburn but had to watch it myself as it was set in my favourite city in the entire world...Paris! What a beautiful film. Beautiful actors. Beautiful city. Beautiful story. Really love the old classics but usually stick to Marilyn Monroe films as she is my ultimate idol. I was really impressed by the magic this film offered.
