The misadventures of a group of twenty-somethings connected by one flat in North London. Brought together by the flat, doing a lot (and a little) together in the flat, and generally making their stroppy, crazy best of it. Bizarrely enough, the more I watch, the more I begin to think that the flat is in fact the star of the show! Spaced is fresh, even now, nearly ten years on. It has a vibrant and energetic approach to telling its stories and jokes that keeps me from dismay at the state of T.V. today. I bought the first series as I wanted to remind myself of how it all started, and was relieved at how well it all meshes together at the beginning. Most importantly though, I wanted to reaquaint myself with the characters as they appeared at the outset. Vivid and deep for a 7 episode jaunt, you just can't help wishing that you had some friends who had a flat frequented by such weirdos as Tyres and Brian. The former a crazed, cycling delivery boy ('Av a banana...) who acts as a bad(?) influence on the group's nightlife, the latter the fragile, disturbed artist in the basement constantly being harrassed by Marsha, the brilliant but lonely alcoholic landlady. The thing I love about Spaced, even including the secondary characters, is that it's obvious that everyone involved had a thoroughly fun and crazy time making it. It oozes fun from every perceivable orifice and is quick-witted and executed even more quickly. Spaced is fun. Simple, really. Perfect for those that like their comedy a little bit zany (Do YOU have a friend like Mike?), a little surreal (Zombies in your living room?), and presented in a format that naturally keeps you watching whilst appeasing your dwarfed attention span. Well, mine anyway.Read full review
One of the greatest British made comedies ever! Even if you are'nt as clued up on the cultural references they include a guide! Special....emotive...beautiful...I adore this series! About as classy a DVD as you are ever likely to purchase....I deserve it....so do you! (If you are'nt a vacuous superficial braindead brainwashed purile shite loving sheep like 99% of the rest of "humanity"). The end....thanks Jim x
I love this series! Its about two friends who hardly know each other yet move in together and struggle to make ends meet, along with unusual neighbours and friends they soon get caught up in mini missions, job interviews and past relationships. I love how its full of refences to big films which you'll notice more as you watch and find yourself saying 'oh, now what film is that bit off?' Its really funny and makes me really want to be part of their little group.
i like it because its funny and entertaining i decided to buy it becasue i remember watching it and i saw it and thought i might as well buy it
