Yes... I am getting on a bit now! Brilliant movie capturing the images, feelings and sentiments of that era. The Sex Pistols film The Great Rock n Roll Swindle, is a good movie and a good laugh. The movie Sid & Nancy is very interesting and Gary Oldman plays Sid Vicious really well, but for anyone really interested in The Sex Pistols and Punk Rock, The Filth & The Fury captures the era very well indeed and tells the story of the Pistols and how it really was, offering the views and opinons of people associated with that particular time; none so more than the surviving Pistols themselves. When I was a young Punk Rocker, Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten were simply rebellious heroes to me. This film though, shows (amongst other things) the tragedy of Sid's character, and the complexities and humanity of Johnny Rotten. As for Malcolm Mclaren? Well, all I can say is that I am thankful that he helped get the Sex Pistols to us, but watch the movie for yourself and you should be able to fathom his enigma and things for yourself. Overall though, enjoy a proper look at the Sex Pistols, Punk Rock and Britain back in that era. Excellent viewing! Thank you Sex Pistols (and Julian Temple). 10/10Read full review
This film follows the Sex Pistols from their very conception, right up until the sudden end with the last show in the Winterland Ballroom. Every member, including Sid, is able to give you their two cents on the events that surrounded the band’s history. A lot of this documentary is spent clearing up the myths that have been linked to this band, such as why Glen Matlock left the band, but then again you are given both Glen’s view on it and The other three’s view. One thing that I didn’t expect with this film in how well Sid Vicious [Pre-Heroin] come off, he’s great to watch, full of quality one liners and does come off as quite a lovable character. All in all, a great for any Pistols fan alike. Well worth the watch.
updating from video to dvd in my sex pistols collection payed agood price for dvd tells the true story of the band and the life of sid vicious
A must buy for anybody interested in British Punks Finest. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen! Great price & swiftly despatched.... Most recommended. B1
a great, topical, informative look into 70s britain, the harsh realities of an economic disaster that spawned punk, the sex pistols and the d.i.y ethos,an excellent insight into the band, the music and the scene, honestly told and with no holds barred, from the band themselves,at last the truth...........
If you are a fan of the sex pistols then this is probably a dvd for your collection , it details the pistols backround , how they met ect. There is very early footage of the band well worth a watch.
Shows a good backdrop of 70's England without the over egotistic view of Malcom and how he manufactured the pistols. A real insight into the group, rotten, viscious and the split, done with passion and without fear of showing weakness or regret from the band members. Recommended to any fan or interested party of the most influential band of the decade.
