I decided to buy Ring of Bright Water purely for nostalgic reasons. I remember watching it initially when I was a boy(some time ago!) and was inspired by the adventure, the romance and tragedy of the enthralling tale. At the time I had no awareness of the very upper class accents of the lead characters (except Midge of course), as all british movies and telly of the era had the same. Now, however, I realise that this sort of adventure was and is only really avaiable to the privelidged. It remains a very watchable, quintisentially british, family movie(although very dated now, no special effects and no 3D). It is one of my all time classic british family movies along with what I refer to as it's sister movie Born Free.
A magical true story of the life of a wild Otter 'Mij' who lives with his Master, portrayed by Bill Travers and introduces him to the life of various antics, utter confusion and love as required by an Otter who has been conveyed to a wild part on North West Coast of Scotland. Highly recommended. Excellent value and a film you will watch time and time again
