Dustin Hoffman puts in an exceptional Oscar winning performance as Ted, an advertising executive who comes home on the most successful day of his career to hear his wife Joanna (Meryl Streep) is leaving him; she is desperately unhappy and needing help. Ted and his seven year old son, played by the brilliant Justin Henry, spend the next 18 months muddling through as a one parent family, with Ted on a steep learning curve. It is very moving how father and son grow together and develop an intense bond that becomes the most important thing in Ted’s life. When his wife shows up wanting custody, Ted fights for his son with everything he has. It is a very emotional film, dealing with difficult issues and guaranteed to draw a tear at the end. It also has some funny moments which lighten the mood. Highly recommended.Read full review
All though the subject matter might not be very intriguing, because it sounds so basic; Kramer vs. Kramer is a surprisingly solid film that deals with what it takes to be a parent. The film is centered around Dustin Hoffman's dedication to his child -- and the sacrifices that need to be made. It also deals with how divorce can confuse a child. This film is not manipulative nor sappy, but just honest -- almost like it was a documentary. Whether or not it was worthy of Best Picture is another question entirely.
I bought this product as the film is a classic and my wife had not seen it. I was very happy with the quality of the product and the delivery time it arrived within.
