I purchased this because I could not find my Blu-ray of the series and did not want to simply replace it with another, so went for the bog standard DVDs. I knew the content and wanted access to it. Nuff said. I also had the same problem with the Hollywood movie of H2G2. I much prefer the BBC series but neither is up to the original Radi 4 series where one's brain paints the picture. Still very much worth having, though.

A classic comedy with great stars and a paranoid robot

Fantastic realisation of the first two books inspired by the HHGG radio series. Funny and often thought-provoking and both genre defying and defining. To my mind the most successful format of HHGG - it was the first I was exposed to by sheer chance in 1981, and I have been a devotee ever since of the saga in its various formats. The late Douglas Adams had a unique storytelling ability that was not flawless, but this TV version will always stand up to myrepeated viewings. The perfect introduction to light-hearted science fiction - a breath of fresh air in a world of created worlds that can get too serious.
Exactly the version I wanted.

I loved this series when I was a child and love it the same now. No hi-tech CGI but magic from the days when TV was worth watching.

This TV series from the '80s sits nicely between the Radio audio series (which is excellent) and the film (which is mediocre). It has the same low-budget appeal as the early Red Dwarf TV series, although obviously predates it significantly. The retro appeal is enhanced by the 4:3 aspect ratio and slightly fuzzy focus compared to modern media, and it has a great nostalgia feel for those who watched it originally on TV.

Old version remember seeing the original better than the book. This is when the B.B.C. made good television.

Taken from the BBC Radio series using mostly the same cast, this is far superior to the later cinema release version.

A good introduction to H2GT2G for the un-initiated. Not quite as Good as the books or radio series, but for those of us who remember the original airing & old Dr Who style sets! X-). The late Peter Jones as the voice of the Book - Great casting. Science fiction with Universal humour! Thank You Douglas.
