Amazing collection of songs, which seem to be centered on revenge, women, love and redemption. Almost a concept album of dealing with the person you should have never fallen for. These songs hit hard and had real personal meaning for me, especially Me vs You (im not the only one with a psycho ex it seems! ) but this differs from most songs of this genre with the victim turning the tables. Revenge? you bet, tons of the stuff, the bitterness spilling out of Andy Cairns mouth is almost shocking when you hear the normally placid, quietly spoken man sing. This to me is the perfect break up album for the partner you are really glad you got rid of! The single Loose pops up halfway through and serves as a welcome lighthearted look at a new relationship but then its back to the bitterness. Far less accessable than the previous 'pop' record Troublegum, but in time you could well be screaming along to Bad Mother, Infernal Love and the Bowels of love. As i stated before this albums means a great deal to me on different levels and you may not find it to your taste, or empathise with the songs, but this is still a fantastic Therapy? record and the last truly great album they made. Also the last with Fyfe (far too underrated!!!) on drums. As the closing line says, "there is a light at the end of the tunnel" and if its a great album you want, this is that light.Read full review
If you are a rock fan then this cd is definetly worth getting your hands on. Although a little more mellow and darker than troublegum its still one of theraphys best releases. Best tracks have to be diane and bad mother.
