Fabulous film. Chow Yun Fat is without doubt one of the best actors around. Great gunfight action too, what's not to love? Original language and English dubbed disc too. Great value for money, great film!!

Bought it cos of Chow Yun Fat. Film is in poor quality VHS and english subtitle shown some obvious spelling mistake. It is quite funny but also quite violence in some part that doesn't suit the film. However the poker, card and dice scenes are pretty cool. It could do with clear up the film up and correct the spelling in English subtitle.
Wong Jing is a populist director who rarely makes films that possess any substantial emotional content or social commentary; as a result, audiences are treated to harmless frolics such as this that are nevertheless highly entertaining. Lau Tak Wah is beyond doubt one of the very best actors ever to have arisen in Hong Kong and the film merits attention for his performance alone. Chow Yun Fat, although less versatile as an actor, manages to convey mental instability and two different personalities fairly convincingly here and both actors receive competent support from the other performers involved. Gambling is to Hong Kong Chinese what football and horse racing is to British people but it is actually illegal in Hong Kong thus films that feature gambling scenes of any kind tend to be popular. This film achieved a degree of success that vastly exceeded expectations with the result that various sequels were made, most of which were actually superior to this progenitor. This edition is generously coupled with interviews although the inclusion of an extra disc that contains the English dubbed version is unnecessary since Chinese films dubbed into English are always wretched and nobody with any intelligence wastes their time with them.
