Cold Feet is an excellent TV series from the BBC. Only problem is that only the first 3 series were released for the US market. We bought these region 2 discs to be able to see the final episodes. Good example of why region coding DVDs is problematic.
More from this brilliant British comedy/drama series about three couples, all friends in their 30’s. It’s down to earth, funny and endearing. As well as being a comedy series it is also great drama with superb acting. The series portrays the ups and downs of life for the various characters and some comic/true to life observations of relationships, friendships and parenthood. Series four is rather more drama than comedy. After separating from David, Karen turns to drink and spirals out of control. Jenny moves to America and divorces Pete. Pete marries Jo, an Australian woman. Adam and Rachel have a baby they were told they could never have. Brilliant must see drama.
In this 4th Series of this great programme Adam and Rachel are trying for a family but are having problems. Jenny has gone off to a job in New York and Pete is left to his own devices, but is delighted when an Australian friend of Rachel's decides to move into his spare room, with obvious consequences. David is trying to keep his marriage together after his short lived affair, but not doing very well as far as Karen is concerned, so she is taking to the bottle. This is such a great series it was difficult to wait for the next episode when it was being shown on television so it is so good to have it on DVD to watch when you want.
Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.
This is by far the best series in Cold feet. It is far more emotionally intense. All the original actors and actresses from previous series' have furthered their acting careers in different ways but are all extremely successful in their own right. This series is an excellent example of their acting skills. Hermione Norris executes her role as Karen brilliantly. Karen is dealing with an alcohol addiction in this series. It is an amazingly individual and realistic performance. The series is gripping and very realistic. Not the funniest of series' due to the content. Comparisons have been made between Cold Feet and Friends from since it was first aired. I disagree. Cold Feet is a drama series whereas Friends is a Sitcom by definition. Cold Feet deals with some challenging issues. Just my opinion but, stop here whilst the goings good. Series 5 pales in comparison. This is Cold Feet at its best. I do not want to give away any more plot details than the one I have mentioned. I recommend that you find out for yourselves!Read full review
