Western starring John Wayne as John Blair, a greenhorn cowboy who along with his partner Larry Adams (Lane Chandler) is swindled into buying a delapidated stagecoach line to the nowhere town of Crescent City. Their prospects are not as rosy as the unscrupulous seller, 'Honest' Cal Drake (Douglas Cosgrove) would have had them believe: Crescent City is a ghost mining town with only two inhabitants. However, the partners are offered a once-in-a-lifetime chance to increase their business potential: if they can beat their rival stageline in a race to Sacramento, they will secure a $25,000 government mail contract.
