'Berlin' is the third solo studio album by American musician Lou Reed, released in July 1973. Reed followed up his breakthrough album 'Transformer' with 'my version of Hamlet'. A bleak song cycle about an abusive, drug-fueled relationship, it's hugely ambitious but also one of the darker records ever made - slow, druggy and heavily orchestrated by producer Bob Ezrin.

ReviewsRanked #28 in The NME "Top 30 Heartbreak Albums" - "...Heartbreak. Heroin. Dubonnet on ice. Reed poured all this badness into this bitter and twisted masterpiece...", Ranked #33 Among the Greatest Albums of the '70s., "...Fascinating....Detailing a couple's breakup, a woman's breakdown and her eventual suicide.....succeeding despite itself...", 5 Stars - Indispensable - "...a melancholy masterpiece...places Reed's dry narrative in sophisticated settings..."
Berlin, the grotesques of the underbelly of every sweat grime ridden city . Beatific junktified poetic prisms of what always lies beneath the skin of our old world capitals .
Hungry in its lusts and pleasures , that give us pain and angst above the written words of Ginsberg Kerouac beats .
